What Your Reading?

I'm starting this blog to help keep everyone in the loop on my football training so I hope you guys enjoy. I'll apologize in advance for the possible imperfect punctuation or spelling. As I've come to find, my girlfriend Haley is the first phone call I get for ALL my grammatical errors LOL. But ill do my best to keep them interesting and easy to follow. I will also try to post pictures just to help give a visual to different people, buildings, and events.

* Feel free to leave comments if there is anything you want to hear more about that im not covering.

** IMPORTANT: If this is your first time reading the blog you're going to want to start at the bottom and work your way up to the current.

The Week I've been Waiting For...

Things are either going to start happening really fast or not at all.  This Thursday, Friday, & Saturday the NFL Draft is taking place.  I'm not overly concerned about the draft (getting drafted) in general but the days following the draft.  That's when the free agent calls start coming out and that's what I'm particularly waiting on.  My agent tells me that I have about four teams seriously interested in bringing me to a camp but if I've learned anything so in this business, its that you don't believe anything until it happens.  Just the nature of the business, nothing personal.  I'm also told that by Tuesday at the very latest I'll know whether a team is going to pick me up or not.  This is were things start to happen fast. If I were to get a call on Tuesday for example, I would more than likely be flying out Wednesday morning to the team facility.

Although I'm not planning on getting drafted I get to take part in some of the draft festivities.  I got invited to Dan and Brock's draft party.  Brock has a possibility of getting drafted Thursday as late first rounder and then my friend Dan Knapp, has raised his stock and now has the possibility of getting drafted at some point as well.  So all around its going to be an exciting weekend. Surprisingly I'm not that nervous, don't get me wrong I'm anxious but glad to say I'm enjoying to process and this is just one more step along the way...with several left to take!

  1. Jake, I've been following your blog with great interest. I'm a former Bearcat myself, and my son is a student there now. I've seen almost every Bearcat play since 1976. I've seen a lot of great Bearcat football players, but none I thought had as good a chance to be a great NFL player as much as you. There is not a question in my mind you have the ability to excel in the NFL, all you need is a shot. I will keep watching anf hoping you get that shot. I selfishly hope its with the Chiefs. Good luck and Go Bearcats!

  2. Jake, I agree with everything Shawn wrote. I am also a Bearcat alum and my son is also up in the Ville. Last night I emailed Scott Pioli asking him to give you a chance, unfortunatley I have not gotten a response.

    Good Luck,

    Craig
